Rights are assigned per release and product. Open research, evaluation samples and production products do not inherit one another's terms.
Current public statement · 15 July 2026
An open dataset or paper displays its applicable licence on the release. Attribution, redistribution, derivative-use and share-alike obligations depend on that licence.
Commercial samples are for bounded evaluation under their stated terms. They do not grant production, redistribution, AI-training or full-export rights unless those rights are explicit.
Production rights are defined by product, territory, permitted users, delivery mode, update frequency, retention, downstream use and redistribution. A commercial licence may permit internal operational use without allowing publication or resale.
Inference Institute traces source licences and separates commercial-production-approved, research-only and pending or prohibited sources. Public availability alone is not treated as permission for commercial reuse.
